WOMEN@FORBES: Stay Ready: ‘Bodak Yellow’ Teacher Erica Buddington On Making The Most Of A Viral Moment
SEP 25, 2017
Byng: Your SEO is on point. If I google you, your personal site comes up, followed by your product page, then your Linkedin and social pages. Under that, appear the dozens of pieces that have since emerged since you’ve gone viral. Was this deliberate?

Buddington: Ha! Absolutely. You can thank Jessica Levenson and my dad for that! She’s an SEO expert and a friend of mine and my dad is a master of the buzzword. He’s also a master of multicultural marketing. He makes sure that I’m prepped for everything that I do. When I first released my sites, Jessica gave me instant feedback on how to pull together my brand. My support system is integral when it comes to the decisions I make about furthering my work. I’m also super prepared. My resume, imagery, and craft are always evolving. I make sure that they evolve digitally, too. After a day of teaching, writing curriculum, and preparing for talks/performances, I’m updating sites, social media, and more. I’m all about staying ready. You never know when a potential client, employer, or anyone that can assist in your mission of changing the world, could peek in.
